Eagle Mine Wins LSCP Distinguished Service Award

The recent virtual Lake Superior Community Partnership (LSCP) Annual Celebration featured Eagle Mine as the Distinguished Service Award business recipient.

Our commitment to the community of Marquette County and economic development in the region has made us a well-deserving recipient.

Managing Director Darby Stacey accepted the award on behalf of Eagle in a pre-recorded speech shown during the celebration. In his remarks, Darby captured the essence of Eagle, its people, and its involvement within the community.

Darby remarked the success of Eagle is “special, rare and takes discipline. We deliver on our commitments, and that permeates throughout our entire workforce and our values of Safety, Integrity, Respect, and Excellence.”

We continue to honor our belief that a positive relationship with the community is essential for a successful business. We made a commitment to the community that 75 percent of the workforce would come from the local labor market. Today, nearly 90 percent of the workforce is local.

In the summer of 2020, we partnered with Love on Local program to contribute over $100,000 to support local small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, we are a supporter of the Marquette-Alger Technical Middle College contributing $125,000 each year to the 3-year program that targets students who are at-risk of dropping out of high school, economically disadvantaged, and first-generation college students.

We believe that our contributions will leave the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in a better social and economic state than it was before our operations began.
